OVERVIEW

Angela Motter's latest release, Pleasure and Pain, recalls moments sacred and profane, woven together by the common thread of Motter's funkiest grooves. The singable-after-one-hearing single "I'm Free" includes a standout performance by local reggae rapper Faceman.

After finding her niche in "folkalternagroove" (folk/funk/alternative), Angela Motter's second independent album, Pleasure and Pain, produced by Ricky Keller (Tinsley Ellis, Bruce Hampton, Aquarium Rescue Unit) and Angela Motter, was funded solely by loyal fans and business people who believed in Motter's talent. Guest artists include Velvel recording artist Michelle Malone ripping through an improv on "I'm Free". Producer, songwriter and bassist DeDe Vogt (Indigo Girls, Cowboy Envy, Wendy Bucklew) lends her smooth contralto along with Malone to "Pleasure and Pain." "I've always wanted to hear their voices paired" says Motter. Local divas Jan Smith (Matchbox 20) and Taj Harmon (every jingle in Atlanta) add their vocal and arranging talents to "Better Get Used to It". Drummer Scott Meeder (.38 Special) adds his rock-solid rhythm and linn drum grooves. David Strohauer, resident world music percussion specialist adds didjerido and clay pot to "Pleasure and Pain" and "Just Around the Corner".
